We take pride in the fact that we are the original Wieting Funeral Home, established in 1956 by my father, Merlin Wieting, Sr.
Before Wieting Funeral Home came to be, Merlin (Dad) received his funeral director’s license in 1952 and then went into the funeral business with Harvey Techtman in Hilbert, Wisconsin. After several years of funeral service in the Hilbert area, Dad made an offer to purchase the funeral home in Brillion, Wisconsin from Mr. Fred Luecker. The sale was complete in May of 1956 and Wieting Funeral Home was born.
Through the years, Dad taught us by his example. He was well grounded in his faith, his love for his family and his dedication to his profession. We have big shoes to fill!
In 1975 my brother Bud joined the firm, and I followed suit in 1977 upon graduation from Milwaukee Area Technical College. Wieting Funeral Home experienced growth with the acquisition of Pfeffer Funeral Home in Chilton, Wisconsin and the Reedsville Co-op Funeral Home in Reedsville, Wisconsin.
Our story took us down a new path upon Dad’s death on September 7, 1994. To say he has been and will always be greatly missed is an understatement. His legacy lives on in each of us now . . .
In 1995 my brother Bud and I agreed to a corporate split. Bud became the owner of the newly formed Wieting Funeral Home of Chilton. I became the owner of the original Wieting Funeral Home, Incorporated.
Today and for the future, my wife Kathy and I count it as a privilege to serve the families of Reedsville, Brillion and the surrounding areas. Thank you for the trust you put in us.
Merlin Wieting Jr.
