Arnold “Arnie” Miller, age 74, of Reedsville, died unexpectedly on Thursday, January 16, 2014.
Arnie was born on April 10, 1939 in Brillion, son of the late Lawrence and Anna (Manlick) Miller. He was a graduate of Brillion High School, class of 1957. Arnie went on to serve our county in the United States Army. He married Janet Reis on April 30, 1960 in Whitelaw. Arnie worked at the Brillion Iron Works, retiring in 2001, and he recently was employed at the Reedsville Equity. He was a former member of the Reedsville Fire Department, serving for over 25 years. Arnie was an Assistant Chief with the department and was the proud chairman of the Annual picnic for several years. He was also a member of the AMVETS Post 1032 of Reedsville, holding various local positions as well as serving as the Wisconsin State Commander and the 4th District National Commander. Arnie was also a member of the Reedsville American Legion Post, Knights of Columbus, was an honorary life member of the West Maple Grove Hunting Club, was Reedsville Citizen of the Year, and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He served on a number of committees for church, but he was also a truly inspired member of the Holy Family Mens’ Saturday Morning Prayer Group. Arnie enjoyed hunting in the Miller woods, bowling, playing cards, dancing a few polkas, watching the Packers, and he especially loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife Janet of Reedsville; their four daughters and two sons: Laurie (Glen) Wagner of Reedsville, Michael (Barb) Miller of Appleton, Susan Miller of Reedsville, Rosanne (John) Porter of Reedsville, Paul (Chris) Miller of Brillion, and Mary Miller of Menomonie; grandchildren: Andrew Miller, Bryan Miller, Nick Porter, Carissa Miller, Jacob Miller, Angela Mangin, Anthony Mangin, and Sheila Mangin; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Marge (Don) Cardinahl and Joanne (Roger) Fischer; other in-laws: Ronald (Emily) Reis, Janice (Willie) Rahn, Claire (Leo) Dietrich, Helen (Lenny) Fox, and Jerome (Judy) Reis; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Arnie was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law and mother-in-law: George and Clara (Grall) Reis, one brother: Eugene Miller, and brothers-in-law: Robert Wilheim, Raymond Sheahan, and Richard Reis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 20, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Brillion. Officiating at the Mass will be Rev. Timothy Brandt. Military Rites will be accorded by the Reedsville AMVETS Post 1032. Entombment will be in Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth.
Friends may call at the church on Sunday evening, January 19, 2014 from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. The visitation will conclude with a parish prayer service at 7:00 p.m. The visitation will continue on Monday morning at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
